Food insecurity is not the same as hunger. Hunger is something we all experience from time to time and can be solved with food. Food insecurity results from policy choices that lead to poverty.
Food insecure households make impossible choices everyday between paying for utilities, housing, food for their families, prescriptions, or transportation.
Distributing food using foodbanks will help against hunger but will not solve the problem of not having enough money to pay for food. For this reason, food distribution and simultaneous help/education to end food insecurity would be a way to effectively help.
